Transforming Lives Through Occupational Therapy
Our mission is to guide and support kids, teens, and families in building the skills to feel grounded, safe, and confident in their daily lives. We take a holistic approach, blending self-regulation, sensory strategies, and executive function support with playful, practical, real-world tools tailored to each child.

About Dr. Jo
Dr. Heidi Joachims is a licensed occupational therapist in the state of California and owner and founder of The Regulation Place Occupational Therapy.
She is passionate about helping children feel safe in their bodies, confident in who they are, and capable of navigating life’s big (and small) challenges. Her work blends traditional occupational therapy with a holistic understanding of the nervous system, sensory processing, and emotional regulation.
Before focusing on skills, she puts safety and connection first, knowing that an individual’s regulated, supported body is ready to learn, solve problems, and build confidence
Outside of her work, she is deeply committed to her own regulation practices- yoga, breath work, time in nature, and slow intentional moments. These practices help her show up grounded and present for every child and family she supports.
She takes that same lens into her sessions helping kids and parents discover small, meaningful ways to reconnect with their bodies and find balance in daily routines.
Her sessions consist of moving, laughing, creating, and exploring through play. If you’re looking for a therapist who brings a calming, holistic, and human approach, you’re in the right place.
Your Questions, Answered
Each child’s journey is unique. Some families see meaningful changes within a few months, while others continue for ongoing support throughout the school year and beyond. We often support children over the years as they navigate new transitions, developmental stages, and changes in their environment. We’ll regularly check in to make sure therapy continues to align with your child’s goals and growth.
We are out-of-network and do not bill insurance directly.
